An important part of the Aksarben Ball’s history is the “behind the scenes” volunteers who have been responsible for the exciting task of planning for, and implementing, this headlining annual event. This group is known as the Aksarben Women’s Ball Committee (WBC). Established in 1930, the Women’s Ball Committee is comprised of 19 dedicated members who each serve a three-year term.

This team of visionaries works tirelessly throughout the year, meeting, planning, and organizing this historic event. The members of the WBC are selected for their community involvement and contributions, as well as for their connections and expertise. While embracing the time-honored history and legacy of the Aksarben Ball, these talented and hard-working women continue to create new visions and adapt imaginative changes to make it the premier event of the year.

There are many components to the Ball, and every detail is considered and meticulously planned to produce a night of splendor, as well as the many events leading up to the fall celebration. The WBC is responsible for planning the Aksarben Ball and organizing all of the Court participants (going through nominations, communicating with parents of Pages, Standard Bearers, Princesses and Escorts, planning Court events throughout the year, etc.), plus managing the RSVPs, décor, and programming for the event.

The Aksarben Ball has a mission of promoting, recognizing, and celebrating volunteerism, philanthropy, and community pride. It serves as a fundraising vehicle for the Aksarben Foundation Scholarship Program and awards over 200 scholarships each year to deserving students in Nebraska and western Iowa.
