How We’re Helping

Aksarben is committed to helping solve the needs of the heartland, here’s how we’re tackling workforce development.

Community colleges play a vital role in educating our future workforce and addressing the growing need for skilled and technical professionals. In support of their important work in addressing today’s labor shortage, the Aksarben Foundation is announcing a one-time, $500,000 challenge grant to heartland community colleges. Each of the six of Nebraska community colleges – Metropolitan, Southeast, Northeast, Central, Western and Mid Plains – as well as Iowa Western Community College will receive a portion of this challenge grant to support workforce development.

Education beyond high school is needed now more than ever, and that education can be in the form of certifications and associate degrees as well as four-year degrees. Community colleges are an important education option and need our support.
